In 2012, we worked on the film House At The End Of The Street starring Jennifer Lawrence. Part of the set was a big basement built on a sound stage that we made to look like faux concrete. A full two weeks of applying this finish to the set's walls, we really got to play with the best and most efficient ways to apply it over a large area without having it dry too fast.
You can see our faux concrete look here in a still from the film. We 'grunged' up the concrete with multiple washes to age it for the set and overall look of the film.
A few years later, the faux concrete look was trending online and we started applying this finish in residential homes. Now we offer our unique faux concrete finish as a way to define your fireplace, hoodfan, accent walls or any other surface you can think of. We create this finish with a blend of latex paints and glazes to create the look of faux concrete without any physical texture. This creates the look of faux concrete but makes it it easy to paint over without having to re-drywall or sand down any sealer or texture.
This has been a very popular finish over the years, and we are so glad to offer it as a way to add a modern industrial vibe to your space. We have done lighter and darker versions of this finish, sometimes aged with a wax, some warmer, some cooler. Some more textured than others an some blended more subtly. We are happy to offer custom samples of this finish using the colours of the adjacent walls to create a truly custom look.
